Pre-application consultation for major applications
For major applications the applicant must carry out a community consultation exercise for certain types of development before a formal planning application is made.
Although notification of a pre-application consultation is submitted to the council, it is not the same as a planning application, and there is no facility for members of the public to submit a representation. If you have any comments on a pre-application consultation, you should make these to the applicant, or the people carrying out the consultation on the applicant's behalf. When the planning application is submitted you will be able to submit a representation in the normal way.
A planning application for the development which is the subject of the consultation can be submitted at any time from 12 weeks to a year after the pre-application consultation is registered. The application must include a report on the consultation exercise.
