Waste and Recycling Education (Schools and Nurseries)

The Waste Team can work with your nursery, primary school or secondary school to offer free waste minimisation and recycling information and resources.

Waste Services offer a range of resources which link directly with the Curriculum for Excellence and Eco-Schools to promote the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle message. Please see details of the resources below.

Some useful information and fun activities to help you learn about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Free CPD sessions will be offered this term to cover the waste and recycling resources provided by West Lothian Council Waste Services.
The Waste Team can lend your school the blue and grey bin and food caddy displays for your classroom or Eco-School assessment visit.
The Waste Education Lending Kits will be available to all nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools and community groups, free of charge, by Waste Services. All lesson plans, resources and equipment will be provided.
The Waste Services received funding from Zero Waste Scotland to train an officer to deliver the Waste Smart programme.
The Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012 make the following provisions:
Previous recycling activities which have taken place in our schools.
Zero Waste Scotland has developed food waste resources for primary and secondary levels specifically for the Scottish curriculum.
Our material recycling centres welcome visits from schools, universities and community groups to help share the knowledge about waste processing.
