Shared AVC's
Information on the Shared AVC's available to council employees
Shared AVCs
The council offers a Shared Additional Voluntary Contribution (Shared AVC) scheme as part of it's employee benefits package. The scheme enables employees to save more for retirement in a tax-efficient way through salary sacrifice.
For Lothian Pension Fund (LGPS) members, AVC contributions can be made through the Shared AVC arrangement. By making contributions via salary sacrifice, employees can benefit from tax relief and savings on National Insurance Contributions (NICs), which may result in a higher level of take-home pay compared with making AVC contributions through the standard method. Existing AVC contributors may also be able to transfer their current AVC arrangements into the Shared AVC scheme.
The Shared AVC scheme is administerd by My Money Matters (previously AVC Wise), who will liaise with the Council's Payroll Service to implement any salary scarifice arrnagements. As part of that process you will be required to share some personal information with My Money Matters. Full details of what is made avaialble is in the assosciated Privacy Notice (PDF, 130 KB)(opens new window). Prudential remains the AVC provider.
