Community Choices Image

Currently place making and public engagement is undertaken to design and award the installation of public art, which is funded via developer contributions and grants. There is now the opportunity to enhance and expand the process, incorporating community involvement and community choices processes for future planned public art within the capital programme.

A process is now available for Whitburn Public Art with workshops being held with schools and the public. This includes free public workshops (Gelli Plate Printing) in Whitburn Library on 14 October (10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00) Polkemmet Country Park on 15 October (10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00). Members of the community are encouraged to participate in the workshops as this is part of the artists engagement to understand what an art installation within Whitburn should focus on and what the community would appreciate.

Officers will also be planning out the timeline and phasing for further public art Community Choices over the next month and an update will be posted here setting out the various projects and their individual timelines.
