Terms and Conditions of Employment (Sickness Absence & Industrial Injury Allowance)
On this page you will find details of the entitlements to sickness and industrial injury allowance. In all cases the entitlement to industrial injury allowance is entirely separate to sickness allowance but entitlement is calculated in the same manner.

Your entitlement to sickness allowance will depend on length of continuous local authority service as detailed in your Written Statement of Particulars as follows:
Continuous service on 1st day of absence | Full salary | Half salary |
Less than 1 year | 5 weeks | 5 weeks |
1 year but less than 2 years | 9 weeks | 9 weeks |
2 years but less than 3 years | 18 weeks | 18 weeks |
3 years but less than 5 years | 22 weeks | 22 weeks |
5 years and over | 26 weeks | 26 weeks |
The above is inclusive of any Statutory Sick Pay to which you may be entitled. Should you qualify for National Insurance Benefit including Dependants' Allowance, this will be deducted from full sick pay. Where half pay plus Statutory Sick Pay or any National Insurance Benefit, including Dependants' Allowance to which you are entitled exceeds your normal pay, the amount in excess will be deducted from the half pay allowance.
