Experiencing the Outdoors - Blackburn Family Centre

The children that attend Blackburn Family Centre are able to take part in outdoor activities in the centre's outdoor area on a daily basis. The centre wants to enhance the children's experience of the outdoors by improving their outdoor area to provide a welcoming, fun and stimulating educational environment. To do this the centre will use their award to purchase new play equipment, planting equipment and new garden furniture.

Blackburn Family Centre is a small charitable organisation providing childcare for 21 children aged 6 weeks up to 5 years.The project will benefit young children that attend the centre in a number of ways;

  • Children that attend the centre will have an enhanced outdoor experience in safe and friendly surroundings
  • Children that attend the centre and experience the outdoor area will benefit from improved physical and mental wellbeing
  • Children that attend the centre's outdoor area will experience increased self-confidence and self esteem
  • The improvements will mean that the outdoor area is both fun and educational
  • The improvements will mean that children that attend the centre will be able to experience the outdoor area in safety all year round

The improvements will take place in the Blackburn Family Centre.
