Made from Crime
Police in West Lothian praised the support they had from local communities in targeting illegally made cash.
The Made from Crime campaign encourages members of the public to be aware of others within their community and to consider:
- How can he afford that big car?
- How did she pay for all those designer clothes and hand bags?
- How can they fund so many foreign holidays?
Good News:
For the first 3/4 of 2018/2019 Police Scotland have recovered £1,006,531.19 from illegal activity in West Lothian.
This can be broken down into the following two areas; Cash and Assets seized.
Cash : £51,629.77
Assets: £954,901.42
Money seized from criminals is re-invested back into local projects for local communities. This happens through 'Cashback for Communities' which is co-ordinated by Youthlink Scotland. West Lothian is currently in the process of awarding applicants funding towards activities to prevent young people from engaging in antisocial behaviour and low level crime.
