Festive bin arrangements 2025 / 2026
West Lothian residents are being advised over changes to bin collections over the festive period.
There will be no grey, blue or green bin collections on Thursdays and Fridays, 25 and 26 December 2025 and 1 and 2 January 2026, due to the public holidays.
Residents whose collections are due on these days should put them out on the following Monday, so either Monday 29 December 2025 or Monday 5 January 2026 instead.
Bins will be collected over the course of the week, so please leave them out until they are emptied.
No brown bin collections will take place over the two-week festive period, with last collections on Wednesday 24 December and the service resuming on Thursday 8 January 2026.
Less garden waste in winter means households should have enough spare capacity in their brown bins to miss one collection, which will allow resources to be prioritised on grey, blue and green bin collections.

Bins should be by the kerbside by 7am on collection day and they should be left out until they are emptied. Please make sure that only the correct items are placed in your recycling bins, and all items in the blue and green bins should always be empty, clean and dry.

Recycling centres and bulky uplifts
All recycling centres will be closed on Thursday and Friday, 25 and 26 December 2025 and 1 and 2 January 2026. To book a slot at a recycling centre, please Community Recycling Centre (CRC) bookings
No bookings for bulky uplifts will be accepted between 21 December 2025 and 5 January 2026 to focus on wheeled bin collections.
Real Christmas Trees
Brown bin permit holder can dispose of real Christmas trees via their brown bin when collections resume from Thursday 8 January. Please remove any decorations and cut up your tree, so it fits in the brown bin with the lid closed to allow the bin to be safely collected.
