Winchburgh Union Canal Public Art Project 2025
Winchburgh Development ltd. (WDL) in partnership with Winchburgh Community Development Trust (WCDT) and West Lothian Council (WLC) seeks to appoint an artist to design and deliver an original sculptural artwork on the canal path adjacent to the Union Canal in Winchburgh.
This opportunity is for an artist/ arts organisation to design and create visually dynamic, contemporary and harmonious permanent sculptural artwork on the canal path green space at a key entry point along the Union Canal leading into Winchburgh.
The artist will also be the leader in the design and delivery of a short series of public engagement workshops that enable local participants to contribute ideas that support the artist in designing the sculptural piece for the site. Designs should respond to local heritage, flora and fauna, the new Daisy Park designs and wider contemporary life and new development developments in Winchburgh such as the new schools, parks, homes, marina itself. The designs could respond to the above listed themes but should not limited by these ideas.
The total project budget is: £22,500.00 + VAT and is non-negotiable. The budget includes all artist fees associated with public engagement activities, design time, all materials, planning permissions application, ground works, fabrication and installation costs.
