Who we are
The Transport Assistance Group (TAG) is a panel within West Lothian Council responsible for assessing and coordinating enhanced school transport services for children and young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN).
This group comprises officers from both the council's Education Services and Passenger Transport Department, ensuring a collaborative approach to addressing individual transportation requirements.
Transport Assistance Group (TAG) meetings are held every two weeks.
What TAG Does
TAG evaluates applications for enhanced transport support on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility is determined based on specific criteria, including:
Severe and complex additional support needs.
Physical disabilities that prevent access to standard school transport.
Attendance at specialist provisions or schools as agreed by the Educational Placement Group (EPG).
Each application is individually assessed, and supporting evidence must be submitted at the time of application.
In determining individual transport needs, recommendations from school staff, NHS staff or other health professionals may be sought and Information from parents or carers are also a crucial part of this process.
