Positive marks for Uphall Primary and Nursery following inspection from Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education

Inspectors stated that the school has made significant progress addressing recommendations and responding to the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and recognised that the school community have worked well to support each other. Led by a calm and effective head teacher, the staff team demonstrated a commitment for ensuring positive outcomes for pupils.

One way of doing this was found to be the approach that staff are taking to ensuring the health and well-being of every pupil is the main priority and this is having appositive impact across the school.

The report noted an improvement on recommendations made by inspectors since their last visit to Uphall. Among the improvements highlighted were the strong leadership skills from the headteacher and the creation of staff leadership groups. This has led to a collaborative approach to develop aspects of the curriculum, such as literacy and numeracy, with the final aim of improving the quality of learning for pupils.

Uphall Primary School Headteacher, Julie Bruce said: "This report is a reflection on our amazing school community. Our fantastic pupils are a pleasure to teach and our staff team work continuously to ensure that they have the best possible environment for them to learn. We will take the positives from this report and will also look at what can be learned and applied to the school and nursery environment to see how we can continue to improve."
