Name change in tribute to Bathgate councillor
Bathgate Partnership Centre is set to be renamed in honour of former Bathgate councillor Jim Walker.
The centre will become the Jim Walker Partnership Centre after a unanimous vote by West Lothian Council.
Jim Walker was a well-known and much-respected figure in his home town of Bathgate and across wider West Lothian, prior to his sudden passing earlier this year.
He served as a councillor on West Lothian Council and its predecessor authorities for over 40 years, and was involved in a number of other important aspects of Bathgate life, including the procession committee, Newlands Concert Brass Band and Bathgate Thistle Football Club.
The council also voted to create a protocol to ensure a consistent approach to recognise the contribution made by its citizens to public life, where council property or public spaces are involved in the future.
