Easter bank holiday bin collection updates
An update has been provided regarding bin collections in West Lothian over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Most collection dates are set to remain as scheduled other than a change to brown bin uplifts due to take place on Easter Monday.
Available resources are being utilised over the holiday period to minimise the impact on local residents with minimal changes to the normal collection schedule.
Residents of West Lothian are asked to note the following information regarding bin collections over the Easter weekend:
- All collections due on Good Friday (10 April) including grey, blue and brown bins will continue as scheduled. Residents are asked to please leave out their bin until it has been collected.
- Grey and blue bins due to be collected on Easter Monday (13 April) should be presented as scheduled and left out until collected. It may take several days to complete all routes depending on available resource which could be impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak although it is hoped that this will be done much quicker.
- Brown bins due for collection on Easter Monday (13 April) should be presented one day early on Easter Sunday (12 April). If for any reason we cannot get access to your street then we will endeavour to collect it the following day.
All bins should be placed by the kerbside by 7am on collection day and left out as advised.
Executive councillor for the environment Tom Conn said: "We would encourage local residents to familiarise themselves with the collection update for over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
"Particularly, those whose brown bin collection would normally take place on the Monday (13 April). If this applies to your household please remember to follow the advice and have your bin out and ready for collection one day earlier on Easter Sunday (12 April).
"Public holidays can be a very challenging time for the waste team in normal times but of course we are all faced with a very different scenario this time around. Everyone involved in the co-ordination and delivery of the service must take great credit for the way they have kept things going so far during the COVID-19 outbreak and I hope everyone will continue to support staff as they strive to continue this.
"All available resources will be put towards ensuring this schedule will be fulfilled and I would ask if we can please be patient over this period with our staff who are working to keep the community serviced."
