Barratt Homes are delivering 33 new build council houses for West Lothian Council, at their new development at Brucefield, West Calder. The development consists of two bed cottage flats, two bed bungalows and three bed terraced houses and anticipated to be complete by summer 2020.
Via the council's allocation policy, these homes will be allocated to current tenants on the transfer list where possible, which helps to house people in accommodation suitable for their needs while freeing up more properties for allocation to the general waiting list.
This helps WLC reach their delivery targets quicker and provide much needed affordable homes in West Lothian.
Similarly, Bellway have completed 14 new homes for the council at their development in Broxburn at the site of the old Vion Factory, (more commonly known locally as Halls of Broxburn) which are all now let.
Executive councillor for services for the community George Paul said: "Council homes are in short supply across the country and these new houses will help provide local people with an excellent place to live. The council has set an ambitious target to deliver 3000 affordable homes from 2012 - 2022 and this will be delivered in a number of ways including working with developers to secure high quality, affordable properties for housing tenants in West Lothian."
