Changing Address
Housing Benefit is usually only paid for the property that you actually live in. If you move, Housing Benefit will be cancelled for your old address from the date you move out.
However, Housing Benefit may be paid for up to four weeks after you moved out if ALL the following apply:
- The landlord continues to charge you rent on your old home
- You have actually moved into your new home
- You can prove it is unavoidable that you had to pay rent on both homes
