New members needed for community council

Whitburn Community Council could be forced to fold, if new members can't be found.

The community council is down to two of the members originally elected in 2017 and two co-opted members.

In a bid to keep the community council operating, an interim election will take place.

There is a maximum of 16 places available on the community council.  As long as no more than 16 nominations are received, a contested election will not be required.  All candidates will simply be elected to serve until October 2021 when the next 4-yearly elections
take place.

The closing date for nominations to be returned is Tuesday 9 April at 5pm.

Further information and a nomination form can be downloaded from the council's website West Lothian Council

"We are extremely excited to welcome Alan Bissett to East Whitburn village hall to perform his critically acclaimed and extremely funny play, The Moira Monologues," said one of the organisers.

The play centres around Moira Bell, a cleaner, single mother, and the hardest woman in Falkirk. Whether defending her wee dog Pepe from the local rottweiler, attempting to seduce a teacher, or belting out Diana Ross for the Scotia karaoke night, Moira is hilarious, hypnotic, frightening and heart-warming company.

Proceeds from the event will go to Calums Cabin, which provides a service for children suffering from cancer and their families,
