The spotlight in this month's Cutting Edge is on Summer Safe 2017

  • The 'Summer Safe 2017' campaign aims to ensure that West Lothian children and young people stay safe while having fun during the holiday period. The campaign, which is now in its fifth year, continues to encourage residents of West Lothian to think about safety during their activities this summer. It is hoped that by raising awareness of possible issues, 'Summer Safe 2017' will ensure that everyone enjoys the holiday period safely.

Also this month

Free swimming during the school summer holiday

  • Youngsters who are aged 15 and under in West Lothian can swim free during the school summer holidays. The free swimming programme is funded by West Lothian Council and allows youngsters aged 15 and under to swim for free, Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, Friday 30 June - Friday 18 August. Swimming is available at Xcite pools in Armadale, Bathgate, Broxburn, Linlithgow, and Whitburn, as well as West Lothian Leisure pools in Deans and Inveralmond Community High Schools, and West Lothian Council's Fauldhouse Partnership Centre.

(Draft) Planning Guidance: The Vennel, Linlithgow - Public Consultation

  • The public consultation stage is now open and you can find the web-page with attached documents here: https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/article/2092/Consultations. There has been ongoing redevelopment, renovation and enhancement of large properties in central Linlithgow over the last decade. The imminent opening of the new partnership centre at the County Buildings and the transfer of partnership services to this building will result in a number of properties in and around The Vennel becoming surplus to requirements. This presents a rare opportunity to consider some of the urban design issues in The Vennel area through investment opportunities.

Adult Learning

  • The council is offering several computer-related learning opportunities across the county during the summer, ranging from Accredited Learning to fun one-off workshops and taster sessions.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities then get in touch. Let us know your name and contact details, which course, where you live, If you could travel to other locations and lastly if you would prefer daytime or evening sessions. Contact: 0800 731 1831 or email adultlearning@westlothian.gov.uk
