Bridge maintenance works at Bathgate
Bridge maintenance works are planned at Bathgate Branch Railway Bridge starting on Monday 28 January.
The bridge is located on the A7066 road to the rear of Starlaw Gardens and carries the road and cycle path over the Edinburgh to Bathgate railway line
In order to halt the deterioration and protect the structure it will be necessary to carry out steel repairs to affected areas, blast clean the steel and apply new paint coatings.
Elements of the work will require to be carried out under night time railway possessions and electrical isolations, likely to be around 2am to 5.50am on Sunday mornings. There are no plans for mid-week night time work.
Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this on local residents through measures such as acoustic curtains/barriers and full containment of the working area.
Works to the more accessible areas of the bridge will be progressed during normal working hours during the week. Some works could continue for up to 12 months.
