Operating your business safely during the Coronavirus Pandemic

The Coronavirus pandemic, and subsequent emergency legislation (The Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions) (Scotland) Regulations 2020), has either halted or restricted the way in which most businesses would normally operate.  Environmental Health and Trading Standards enforce this legislation in partnership with Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive.

The Scottish Government has now issued a phased route map setting out plans to gradually ease Scotland's Coronavirus restrictions.  Each phase will introduce new measures allowing businesses to steadily start operating again.  However, enhanced public health measures such as physical distancing are expected to remain in place for some time.

It is important for all businesses to ensure that they are operating safely during this time and are following all relevant advice to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.  Useful sources of information are listed below. The Regulations and guidance change often - businesses should ensure they keep up to date with the evolving situation.

Some businesses will be reopening after being closed for a long time.  We have produced guidance for these businesses to help carry out this process safely.  The information is also useful to those businesses that have been permitted to remain open during the restriction period:
