    Frequently Asked Questions

    How many full burials in a lair?

    • In most cemeteries the Council will allow two full interments with the possibility of a third subject to ground conditions.  Up to four cremation caskets may also be interred in the lair subject to ground conditions

    What can and cannot be placed on a lair?

    • WLC will grant permission for the placement of a single headstone incorporating a flower vase.  Christmas wreaths will be allowed during the Christmas period and notification of removal by cemetery staff will be placed on noticeboard.  Floral tributes will be removed after 21 days following an interment
    • Railings, kerbing, fencing, corner stones, gravel are not permitted.  Any such items shall be removed by the Council and will be stored for a period of one month.  A note will be placed on the lair informing of the removal

    Are dogs allowed within the Cemetery?

    • The exercising of dogs is not permitted
    • Dogs may accompany visitors if kept on a short lead at all times (no longer than 2 metres)
