Cairnpapple Hill - Torphichen

Cairnpapple is situated in the Bathgate Hills with spectacular views over West Lothian. It has been a place of sanctuary and worship stretching back to Neolithic times (3000 BC) when an open-air temple was built there. Following an excavation in 1947, five phases of rituals and burials spreading over 2000 years were discovered.
