Volunteering - COVID-19
There are many groups out there providing volunteering and we thank them for their efforts.
If you are providing a local volunteering service as a result of COVID-19, please let the council know by email at: RegenerationTeam@westlothian.gov.uk
The council will work with community partners to co-ordinate activity across West Lothian in order to minimise duplication and identify any gaps. Our partners at the Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (VSGWL) will be highlighting voluntary organisations that are urgently seeking volunteers and signposting individuals to these groups. VSGWL is also keen to hear from individuals who can volunteer locally. You can contact them by email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone - 07712 521850.
The situation is changing all the time, and council staff are already developing additional arrangements to support vulnerable local people and we will have those arrangements in place for the middle of next week.
As a reminder, while the community support is welcomed, care should be taken to ensure that the work does not increase the risk of infection and the council encourages all groups to follow government advice on minimising transmission including guidance on social distancing.
Support those who use their cars to help their communities
If you are using your own car for voluntary purposes to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by Covid-19, your insurance cover will not be affected. You do not need to contact your insurer to update your documents or extend your cover.
