Green Gym in West Lothian

Green Gym offers you the opportunity to improve your fitness levels by doing practical environmental activities such as woodland management, gardening, tree planting and improving footpaths.

Very close to the Howden Park Centre is a forgotten walled garden, behind the old derelict council buildings. The gardens have been neglected and paths overgrown and impassable. The BTCV Green Gym project aims to restore them back to somewhere close to their former glory, breathing some life back into them. We will clear all the non-native species and make way for fruit trees, fruit bushes, some herbs and vegetables as well as something for wildlife to dine on! 2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity so a great project to come along and get your hands dirty. Not only will you be helping the garden, but yourself as well. We provide a safe place to come and volunteer, do some gardening, try new things, develop new skills, meet new people and improve your overall wellbeing. BTCV Green Gyms benefit the environment and you, physically, mentally and socially.
