New Calderwood Primary School and Early Years nursery
West Lothian Council is building a new primary school in Calderwood. East Calder. This webpage aims to provide you with regular updates on the project.
The proposal, which will enhance Education provision in the area, was given the green light by the Council Executive on 25 June 2019.
Calderwood is one of West Lothian's three Core Development areas which will see a significant number of new homes being built over the next ten years.
The council's investment will deliver:
- A non-denominational primary school with initial capacity of four hundred and sixty two pupil places to be open by August 2021
- An Early Years nursery provision with an initial capacity of one hundred and twenty eight child places to be open by August 2021
The welcoming school entrance and Hellerup staircase to the upper floor.
The Creative Lab is a specialised practical space for pupils to explore and enhance their science and technology skills.
The Library Space includes a range of brilliant books, fantastic furnishings and trendy technology.

The works are being delivered by Hub South East Scotland Limited, West Lothian Council's strategic delivery partner. This partnership successfully delivered the new West Calder High School, which was recently named Project of the Year at the Education Buildings Scotland Awards.
Final contract discussions are taking place with contracts due to be signed on 11 February 2020, with work starting on site in March 2020.
Site preparation works are currently being carried out by Stirling Developments Limited ahead of Morrison Construction building the new school on behalf of West Lothian Council.
