West Lothian bus users urged to have their say

Bus users in the north and west of West Lothian are being urged to have their say on further potential changes to bus services.

First Scotland East has launched a public consultation on proposed changes to routes operating from their Larbert Depot that could impact a number of journeys through West Lothian.

This follows a similar consultation by First Scotland East who operate the majority of bus services in West Lothian, which will result in significant changes across the local bus network.

The main changes to the Larbert Depot routes affecting West Lothian communities are summarised below and will mainly impact on Linlithgow, Bridgend and Winchburgh in particular with services 1 and 38/X38/38A, as well the 29 service to Armadale, Bathgate and Broxburn.

Local residents can have their say by visiting First Larbert bus changes.  They are also holding a Customer Roadshow Consultation Day on Wednesday 27 June at Howgate Shopping Centre (unit next to Superdrug) from 12noon to 5pm.

Executive councillor for transport and development, Cathy Muldoon said: "We have concerns about the impact of these changes on Bridgend in particular, and will be raising them with First Scotland East on behalf of the West Lothian communities affected.

"We would encourage those affected to familiarise themselves with the changes to services operated by First Scotland East and make sure their voices are heard. West Lothian Council has no authority over commercial services such as those operated by First Scotland East.

"First Scotland East recently consulted on changes to the rest of their West Lothian network operated from their Livingston depot. Following feedback from the community and the council, I'm pleased that they changed their final proposals to address many of the key points raised.

"I hope local residents affected by these proposals, such as those in Bridgend, will have their say to help convince First of the local demand for their services."
