Positive Leavers Destinations
More school pupils in West Lothian have moved onto positive destinations than ever before.
School leavers who are engaged in higher education, further education, training, voluntary work, employment or activity agreements are classified as having a 'positive destination'.
93.93% of Senior Phase School Leavers went into a positive destination. This is a 1.19% increase on last year and a 4.1% increase in West Lothian over the last six years.
25.08% of young people are in employment which is a rise of 2.68% compared to last year.
There was a slight increase in the number of young people undertaking Activity Agreements which is in line with the rest of Scotland. An activity Agreement is an agreed plan of learning and activity which helps young people to move on to college, training or college.
There was a drop in the percentage of unemployed seeking and not seeking.
Out of 32 Local Authorities West Lothian Council was 18th however the difference between West Lothian and the Local Authority in 9th place was 0.8%.
Executive councillor for education David Dodds said: "These are fantastic figures that demonstrate the excellent work going on in schools across West Lothian to ensure that we deliver for our pupils. It is excellent to see an improvement and hopefully we can continue to improve our prospects for school leavers in the years to come."
