Executive councillor for the environment Tom Conn said: "The vast majority of local residents should put out their bins as normal over the Festive Period.
"Only collections on the public holiday days of 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January will be affected. Residents whose normal collections days are Monday or Tuesdays should make sure they familiarise themselves with the new arrangements for those days.
"As most of the new collection dates are before usual collection, residents are advised to mark on a calendar or set a reminder to put their bins out on the new collection days.
"Please make sure that all bins and caddies are out by 7am and leave them out until they are collected. The higher volumes of collections during the holiday period mean that collection times can change during this time."
Brown bin collections will stop from Monday, 18 December, and resume on Monday 16 January. Christmas trees can be placed in your brown bin for collection on your usual date after collections resume.
Please cut trees up to fit in the brown bin where possible, and if your bin is full, please ensure the tree is cut into manageable lengths and left on the kerbside beside your brown bin on the day of collection.
West Lothian's six Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) at Blackburn, Broxburn, Linlithgow, Deans and Oakbank in Livingston and Whitburn will be open every day from 10am to 5pm, except for 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January. Last entry is 4.45pm. For further information, please see Find your Local Community Recycling Centre
Bookings for bulky and fridge uplifts will be not be accepted between Friday 15 December and Monday 8 January to ensure householders' food waste and wheeled bin collections take priority.
