East Calder library provides a full range of library services including public access computers.

The library will be closed on 25th & 26th December 2018 and 1st & 2nd January 2019

East Calder Library is now open in its new location of East Calder Partnership Centre.

Author visit

On Thursday 22nd November at 5.30pm, as part of Book Week Scotland, the Joint Adult Book Group Book will enjoy the company of author pdf icon Alan Bissett [519kb] originally from Falkirk who is going to give a recap of books he's written for over 18 years and the reason behind the Moira Monologues, showing at Howden Park Centre on 15th November.  Should be a lot of laughs and a very enjoyable night.  All adults are welcome.

What's On

Stories, songs & rhymes for babies, toddlers & pre-school children.  Bring a grown-up with you to share in the fun.

The next sessions will take place in the new library location:

  • Monday 10th and Saturday 15th December at 10.30am


  • Adult Book Groups A & D - Joint session

Relaxed book group. An hour of friendly discussion with free refreshments.  All adults welcome.  

  • The joint group will meet on Thursday 13th December with Brian Smith our local author talking about his book on his travels in the sixties around Israel and Katmandu and other places and the difference from then and now.


Customer Information Service

A Customer Information Service (CIS) drop-in surgery will be held every Tuesday between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

Registration Services

Registration services by appointment for any birth or death that occur anywhere in Scotland or marriage within West Lothian. 

Service available by appointment only.
