Can the Museum give a valuation of an object for me?

No. If you want to get a valuation on a painting or other work of art, please contact an art dealer or an auctioneer. You can find these in the Yellow Pages.

Do staff at museums and galleries give talks to schools and other groups?

Museum staff are pleased to give talks about their services and collections. It is advisable to contact the curator to arrange specific dates and topics.

How can I donate something to a museum?

Please contact the Curator at the museum to discuss the object's suitability.

How much is entry into the museums?

It costs nothing to visit one of West Lothian Council's museums, but other museums in the area may charge an admission fee.

Why isn't the object I donated to the museum on display?

All objects are on display for a limited period of time to conserve and protect them for future generations. Many items would deteriorate if they were on continuous display and so to preserve your donation we do not continually display it.
