Museums are a wonderful resource for formal and informal learning. See our exhibition programme for a wide variety of interesting and entertaining topics both old and new. Read on for more information about our schools and reminiscence box services.

FREE Museum Handling Sessions are available to all West Lothian Schools

We bring real museum objects into the classroom for pupils to see, touch (with gloves) and smell. Based on our local collections, we offer a variety of handling sessions in Primary Schools on:

  • Toys and Games
  • World War 2
  • Geology of West Lothian
  • Local Study (tailored to suit your community)

Reminiscence Box Loan Service

We have ten large boxes and a fast growing selection of mini kits on a variety of topics to enhance reminiscence work with the elderly in our community. The objects within them can also be used to stimulate young people to explore their culture and heritage and can offer inspiration for creative work to writers and artists. The ten large boxes are:
