Opera and classical music
The musical programme at the Regal Community Theatre always includes a classical music strand - Scottish Opera, Scotland's national opera company, regularly tours its "Essential Scottish Opera" performances, the annual West Lothian Festival of Brass is a highlight and there are other "one off" performers.
The instrumental music service area groups and bands of school pupils from across West Lothian perform a series of concerts every Spring at St Margaret's Academy in Livingston and a biennial "Best Years of Our Lives" concert in Edinburgh.
There are also a very broad range of community music groups and organisations playing and promoting classical music in venues from Linlithgow to Bathgate.
