Beecraigs Play Area reopened on 29th April after a major refurbishment

Last year we invested in play areas and play provision for our young people at:

Families enjoying the facilities at Beecraigs Play AreaBeecraigs Country Park,  Calgary Avenue,  Howden,  Doon Walk,  Craigshill,   Duddingston Crescent,  Newton,    East Calder Public Park,  Hillside,  Blackridge,   Kirkton Park,  Bathgate,   Murieston Way,  Murieston,  Springfield,  Linlithgow,  Glendeveon,  Winchburgh,  Wallace Walk,  Bents,  Marrfield Park,  Uphall Station,  KGV  Park,  Blackburn,  Burnside Terrace,  Fauldhouse  & Wester Inch,  Bathgate.

This year (2011/12) the following play areas are to be upgraded:

Church Place, Fauldhouse ( Rolled over from last year),  Harburn Road ( adjacent Parkhead Cottages),  West Calder, KGV Park,  Whitburn,   KGV Park,  Uphall,    Livingston Village ( adjacent primary school) ,  Longridge ( adjacent primary School ),  Main Street Stoneyburn, Broompark View,  East Calder,  and Birniehill,  Bathgate.

The policy of improving play areas in West Lothian has been proceeding for a number of years. Opportunities to participate in play activities are essential to the healthy mental, physical, social and emotional development of children. The main objectives are to ensure that children have accessible, safer, inclusive fun and stimulating play environments.

Service Standards for Play Area Maintenance:

  • Inspect and maintain play areas on a weekly basis all year round
  • Conduct annual independent inspection of all sites
  • Make safe dangerous or vandalised equipment within 24 hours
