Local and special collections
For local history, visit the Local History Library in Blackburn. You'll find thousands of books, maps and photographs on the heritage of West Lothian, and friendly advice on hand. Whether you're researching your house, your club, a local community, school, church or industry, then we're sure to have something to help you.
If you're interested in family history, the Local History Library is also the place to try. We have census record, Old Parish records, Valuation Rolls, Voters' Rolls, old newspapers and much more to help you find your roots.
Linlithgow Library has a small collection of local history books, donated to the library by the West Lothian History and Amenity Society (new window) . These are all available for borrowing.
