Linlithgow Burgh Halls

Linlithgow Burgh Halls has been transformed into a stunning resource that truly has something for everyone.

The Category A listed building now boasts a superb art gallery, two stylish, contemporary function rooms and a stunning roof terrace perfect for weddings and other events, education and tourist information centre, and much more.

The iconic building, at the heart of Linlithgow's scenic Cross area, has undergone a £5.2 million restoration, thanks to funding from West Lothian Council in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland and The National Lottery through Creative Scotland.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architects Malcolm Fraser, the redevelopment sympathetically positions modern design alongside period features. Visitors to the Burgh Halls will find a new modern reception area with visitor information and panels detailing the heritage and history of the building, and the, with full height glass wall opening into the patio and Rose Garden area.

The first floor is dedicated to art of the highest quality, and the Gallery will host a continuous series of exhibitions.

The two halls have been transformed into fantastic spaces ideal for weddings and other events.  The Bailie Hardie, or South Hall, has been completely restored with fireplaces at each end featuring specially commissioned paintings of Linlithgow by Michael McVeigh and decorative tiles from Douglas Watson Studios. The Provost Lawrie, or North Hall, now has three new French windows giving visitors direct access to a stunning roof terrace.

The lower ground level has been converted into an education room and audio visual facility, allowing schools and other groups to use the Burgh Halls as a resource.
