Parks, gardens and open spaces
West Lothian is rich in green spaces both within and between its towns and villages. Within our towns and villages there are parks and greenspaces which we use each day and between these are Country Parks offering beautiful landscapes to explore and opportunities to try out a wide range of activities.
Country Parks
We have three country parks, namely Almondell and Calderwood, Polkemmet and Beecraigs. A wide range of outdoor activities are available at each Country Park and include fly-fishing, walking, golfing, archery, canoeing, rock climbing and bowling as well as restaurants and a caravan and camping site. For further information on each of these parks please visit Countryside and Wildlife or alternatively visit the Beecraigs website (new window). The country Parks are managed by the Countryside Section within Property Services.
Parks
We have a network of parks and green spaces throughout West Lothian. The council has an Open Space Strategy (new window) to help guide us on making improvements to these places and safeguarding accessible green spaces throughout West Lothian.
If you would like do to something for an urban park or open space near you, find out about becoming a friend of your green space here (new window).
