St. John's Hospital stakeholder group
The St John's Hospital stakeholder group aims to strengthen communications and promote shared understanding among stakeholders by meeting regularly to discuss areas of future joint interest regarding St John's hospital in Livingston.
It consists of three elected members of West Lothian Council, three NHS Lothian Board non Executives, a patient representative selected by the Patients' Forum and a Staff representative selected by the Area Partnership Forum.
Council Leader Peter Johnston, who will chair the group for the first two years, said: "The setting up of the Stakeholder Group gives us the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with NHS Lothian and to help shape the future development of services at St. John's ensuring that these take full account of local circumstances.
"We will also have the opportunity to explore further partnership working involving the council and the NHS in area including tackling health inequalities, economic regeneration and transport."
Other members of the group include Councillors Ellen Glass and Gordon Beurskens, NHS Lothian chair Dr Charles Winstanley and non-executive directors Teresa Douglas and Bob Anderson, and St. John's staff representative, Derek Thompson.
The group will consider:
- further development of services at the St John's site to ensure its sustainable future as an acute, emergency hospital
- related site infrastructure matters, such as car parking and transport
- further integration of health and local authority services in areas of common interest, such as tackling health inequalities, economic regeneration, transport infrastructure and the effect of inward investment on healthcare infrastructure.
