AIDS and ADAPTATIONS

A number of aids and adaptations are available for people who are disabled or who need extra help around their home.

If you are a council tenant and have a disability, it is possible to have alterations made to your home to make life easier for you.  
 
West Lothian Council has a team of Community Programme Liaison Officers (CPLO) to plan all major capital projects for council homes in the area. Capital programmes are projects that add to or improve a property, such as building work, or the installation of new heating systems, windows or doors. The liaison staff produce and send out lists of all capital work being carried out in each town to local housing offices, council information service bases and the customer service centre.

There are local capital programme liaison officers at each housing office. These staff will also deal with complaints about faulty equipment still under the one-year guarantee. They will also undertake inspections and report on the installation of aids and adaptations for the council?s social work service.
