West Lothian Archers - affiliated to SFAA (Scottish Field Archery Association)

To date the West Lothian Archers club has 48 members, with more beginners in training ready for the new outdoor season. To start the season the WLA did very well in the SIAC 2010, (Scottish Indoors Championships), held once more in Linlithgow Academy. Eleven WLA members participated in these Indoor Championships, achieving three Gold medals and one Silver in the Gents section, plus 1st Veteran and 3rd,4th and 10th Gents also, with young Mhairi Jessop (under 13s)winning her event and taking Gold medal in the main event and the Jim Baxter Memorial Trophy event. This year WLA top shooters will travel to Argentina to take part in an IFAA (International Field Archery Association) major event with every possibility of some returning with Gold and Silver. West Lothian Archers are the most active club in the whole of the SFAA, (Scottish Field Archery Association) and are renowned for their well-attended and well organised Open field archery shoots. Many of their talented members, ladies and gents, young and old ,will take part Open shoots being held on field courses in the Lothians, Borders and the North this year. More and more people are becoming interested in Field Archery, a woodland form of archery quite distinct from the Olympic style target archery, where whole families can enjoy a quiet yet challenging activity, free from regimentation and nitpicking rules which are unconnected with safety.
