Join in the clothes for Haiti appeal

Everyone is well aware that the people of Haiti are in desperate need of support following the recent earthquakes.

The West Lothian Herald and Post newspaper are co-ordinating an appeal and West Lothian Council are working in partnership to support them.

What can I do?

Members of the public have been asked to donate blankets, clothing and shoes only to any of the Community Centres listed below.

The Community Centres being used are:
1. Whitburn Community Centre
2. West Calder Community Centre
3. Bathgate Community Centre, Bathgate
4. The Lanthorn Community Complex, Dedridge
5. Strathbrock Partnership Centre
6. Craigsfarm Campus, Craigshill
7. Blackburn Community Centre
8. Low Port Outdoor Education Centre, Linlithgow
9. Craig Inn Centre, Blackridge
10. East Calder Community Centre

Council Leader Peter Johnston said:

" It will take many years before the people of Haiti can get back on their feet.

"An estimated 1.5 million people have been left homeless and as many as 200,000 people are thought to have died. There's a need for massive support from the international community to help the people of Haiti and this is an opportunity for the people of West Lothian to play their part.

" West Lothian Council is delighted to work in partnership with the Herald and Post and local businesses to help the people of Haiti.

" I'm sure everyone has spare shoes, blankets or clothes that they can donate and I?d encourage them to visit one of the ten community centres and donate to this appeal."
