Council continues to monitor refinery dispute

West Lothian Council is continuing to closely monitor the Grangemouth oil refinery dispute.

" We are keeping a close watch on the situation and the potential effects on West Lothian," said a council spokesman.

" There is no change at present in the situation locally. We are taking steps to conserve fuel supplies, but we are continuing to maintain front-line service delivery.

" Our employees have been given advice about cutting down on the number of meetings where travel is required and to consider alternative travel arrangements such as car sharing and public transport.

" The council has clear responsibilities as a local authority. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will issue further advice as necessary."
