West Lothian's Hidden Literary Connections
Learn more about Scotland's authors by discovering West Lothian's Literary Connections. West Lothian Council is organising a series of special events highlighting the work of a prestigious author who has little known connection to West Lothian. The events are free but you must register to reserve a place.
Monday 28 November, 7.30pm, Armadale Community Centre - Billy Kay will speak about Tom Hanlin, Armadale miner and novelist.
Friday 2 December, 7.30pm, Blackburn Library - David McVey will speak about John Buchan, writer of The Thirty-Nine Steps and many other wonderful stories.
Friday 2 December, 12.15pm, Boghall Primary School - Prof. Douglas Gifford of Glasgow University will speak about George MacKay Brown, the Orkney writer.
Friday 27 January, 12.00pm, Bathgate Partnership Centre - Prof. Gerard Carruthers of Glasgow University will speak about Robert Burns and Highland Mary. (The restored statue of Burns and Highland Mary will be unveiled in the Partnership Centre garden on 25 January.)
