Licences - Poisons

Trading standards enforce the provisions of the Poisons Act 1972 and the Poisons Rules 1982, prohibiting the sale of poisons unless the seller is a retail pharmacist or a person who has his name on the local authority's list of permitted sellers.  There are restrictions on which poisons a listed seller can sell from their premises.  Suitable traders with appropriate premises may apply for inclusion in the list on payment of a fee.  The period of registration for poisons runs from 1st June to 31st May in any year.

The current fees are as follows:

  • Initial registration:   £33.00
  • Re-registration:       £18.63
  • Change in details:    £10.00
