Licences - transport

West Lothian benefits from direct transport links to major cities in the UK and Europe through its extensive road and rail network. West Lothian Council is committed to ensuring that transport links are maintained to the highest standards.

Under the terms of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, persons interested in operating a taxi or private hire car require to hold an operators licence.  Drivers of taxis or private hire cars must hold either a taxi drivers licence (allows authorised driver to drive a taxi or private hire cars) or a private hire car drivers licence (allows holder to drive private hire cars only). Full information can be obtained from Licensing Team on 01506 281632 or by e-mail
