Access2employment - including Working for Families

Recently, as a result of Scottish Executive funding, Working for Families Fund has been introduced to West Lothian. This initiative will work in conjunction with West Lothian Council's employability service which has recently been relaunched as 'access2employment'.

Access2employment consists of a team of employment advisers who provide help with a range of employability services, training and childcare. This service is available to all West Lothian residents, however it will focus particularly on supporting parents who are unemployed or on a low income. Help is also available to those parents who are experiencing vulnerable situations due to other stresses such as disability, mental health or substance abuse problems.

Access2employment provides professional guidance by skilled Employment Advisers. The range of services available include assistance in preparing a CV through to funding for further training/education as well as help in sourcing suitable childcare.

Access2employment provides guidance with a range of services from assistance in preparing a CV, to offering funding for further training/education. Access2employment provides free resources, from newspapers advertising vacancies, access to the Internet and email, free use of telephones, faxes and photocopiers. Access2employment offices are located within the Workplaces in Craigshill Livingston, Whitburn and Broxburn. Advisers are also available to meet you in your own town or village - phone for an appointment using the freephone 0800 032 9768. Skilled Advisers can help you prepare for Interviews . Many people require assistance with Job Application Forms especially when a detailed supporting statement is required by the employer.

Access2employment also offers help to migrant workers. Some literature has recently been published in Polish to assist the growing numbers of Polish Workers within West Lothian.
