West Lothian is widely regarded as one of the United Kingdom's leading councils. Voted UK Council of the Year in 2006 and the first unitary local authority in the UK to achieve a Charter Mark for the whole council in 2007. 
In June 2007 Education and Cultural Services received a glowing endorsement from Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education in one of the best reports ever for an Education Service.
There is quite clearly a success culture in West Lothian and we intend to maintain this high level of performance by appointing the very best Head Teachers and teachers to our schools.
West Lothian is one of the fastest growing areas in Scotland, and one of the few areas where new schools are required to meet the growing school population.
