Councillor Peter JohnstonDetails on how a financial package aimed at rejuvenating Broxburn and Uphall town centres have been announced.

Funding for the town centre improvements in excess of £3 million has been secured which will result in several major improvements to the towns such as:

· The upgrading of footpaths forms a major part of the investment. Over 3,000 square metres of street surfaces in Broxburn and 653 square metres in Uphall being cleaned and upgraded.

· The installation of safer connections between each town centre and residential areas, transport sites and car parking sites, including measures to enhance mobility, pedestrian and cycle use.

· Improvements to town signage town to address accessibility, and

·  Improvements to retail and business shop fronts together with improved signage within both town centres.

By enhancing the facilities in each town, residents, visitors and businesses will all benefit, providing a boost for the local economy. 

The council is progressing the plans with all the stakeholders and aims to have the works underway by the summer.
