Countryside management and conservation

West Lothian's countryside is important for its landscapes, wildlife, geology and historic heritage. However, it is also a working environment that produces food and timber and one that the public uses for its recreation and enjoyment. The council is committed to protecting these interests and provides a variety of services to conserve, manage and interpret the countryside, working alongside the district's land managers.
