West Lothian Civic Centre
West Lothian's stunning Civic Centre is thought to be the biggest public sector partnership of its kind in the UK - is home to:
- Divisional Police Headquarters (F Division), (new window)
- Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court complex (new window) ,
- Council Headquarters,
- The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (new window) ,
- The Scottish Children's Reporter Administration, (new window)
- Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service (new window) , and
- West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (new window) .
Leader of West Lothian Council Peter Johnston said: "The Civic Centre provides a new civic focus for the people of West Lothian and a modern efficient and flexible working environment for our staff. Although we have just moved, we're already seeing the benefits in terms or efficiency and building relationships with our partners. The Civic Centre is full of energy and optimism and I would like to thank everyone involved in the project and all the staff who have migrated to the building."
Lothian and Borders Police, Chief Superintendent Ronnie Liddle, said: "This is a really exciting time for West Lothian Division and, indeed, Lothian and Borders Police. The opportunities we will have, in terms of working really closely with our partners, are huge. I expect my team to be building professional relationships and developing a joined up approach with people from health, social work, education, housing and environmental services, to name but a few. This should directly impact upon those people who use our service, with a view to providing the very best response to individuals and the communities in West Lothian."
Chief Executive, Scottish Court Service, Eleanor Emberson added: "This centre offers huge potential for closer working between court staff and others in the justice system, especially the police and Procurator Fiscal but also with social work and education services. Better joint working across the justice system will give a better service to the local community."
Alex Linkston, Chief Executive of West Lothian Council, says the Civic Centre is the culmination of a vision for public services that has provided new opportunities for streamlined working and created a win win situation. Mr Linkston said: "Preparing for the move has enabled us to create efficiencies through challenging the need for staff to be office based and developing and implementing new ways of working. Through integrated working with partners such as police and health, we can create a public sector for the future, which is more efficient and delivers services at a lower cost. It's a win win opportunity."
