Communicating with all citizens and customers of West Lothian is important to us. We continually seek to improve and expand our methods of communicating.
 
Online facilities
It is possible to connect to a range of services from your home or office. Payments can be made online for Council Tax, Parking Fines, Planning Applications and much more.  If you are a tenant you can request a repair online. You can even request or renew a book when it is most convenient to you.
 
Bulletin
As the official newspaper of West Lothian Council, Bulletin aims to inform residents of significant new developments concerning services and facilities in the area. There are four editions a year and they contain important information about schools, health, environment, transport and leisure activities.
 
New Horizon
New Horizon is a lifestyle magazine which encourages older people to stay active and healthy.  It is posted twice a year, to everyone in West Lothian who is in receipt of a state pension.  It is also available through libraries and Council Information Services (CIS) centres. 
 
Factfile
Factfile is the council's Annual Report. It is produced to give you, our customers, a brief round-up of the services we have provided over the past year. We also provide an indication of some of our priorities for next year. It is distributed to all homes and businesses in West Lothian.

How can I find out about how effective the Council is?

The Council doesn't just keep performance information to itself. It publishes it in a range of ways including Annual Reports and Accounts and Performance Indicators supplement.

What is Council Tax spent on?

Council tax is a local tax which helps pay for the services which the Council provides, e.g. education, social services, roads, street cleaning and lighting and refuse collection. It also provides some funding for the Police and Fire Brigade.
