Area winners announced in gardening competition
Judging of West Lothian Council's annual Gardens' Competition has been completed for this year and the area winners selected.
The winners for the Armadale area are: 1 - Mr Andrew Park, 54 Avondale Drive, Armadale. 2 - Mrs Elizabeth McAlpine, 12 Manse Avenue, Armadale. 3 - Mr Jim Boyd, 31 Colinshiel Court, McNeil Crescent, Armadale
The winners of the best flower garden, best vegetable garden, best Livingston garden, Oatridge College Award and the West Lothian Gardener of the Year title will be announced at the prize giving ceremony on Friday 5 November at the Low Port Centre in Linlithgow.
West Lothian Walking Week
The walk to The Glen, Armadale, from 10am on Tuesday 21 September will be led by Put your West Foot Forward.
The walk is 2.5 miles in distance and starts at the community centre.
Armadale town centre improvements
Civic Space work started on 9 August and is expected to take a period of eight weeks. A deep clean started on the week 16 August and will take one or two weeks to complete.
Signage strategy and furniture strategy will be implemented in late summer. The shop front grant scheme is progressing in partnership with Armadale traders.
Exhibitions at local libraries
During September, Armadale library will host the 'History of Armadale' and 'Call to Arms' displays.
These will be on view during opening times.
The Story of Blackridge is currently on display at Blackridge library.
The exhibition examines work and leisure in Blackridge, and includes a special display of old railway photographs.
New group for Westfield
A new group for seniors in Westfield has been formed called 'The Bridgecastle Club'.
The group have been doing local walks and also paid a visit to Culross.
Future plans include linking to Armadale community centre for indoor bowls and a visit to New Lanark
Club hope to refurbish community wing
Blackridge youth and children's club have applied for a 'cashback for communities' grant to refurbish the community wing and hopefully attract older young people.
Young people are fully involved in planning and decision making over the space.
